Canoe Launch

Scope: This work took place along the creek edge of an old parking lot. The purpose of this project was to provide canoe/kayak access to a remote tidal creek located near the Fishing Bay WMA. Work involved protecting the work area from tidal flow, excavating the access ramp, placing a base layer of CR-6, installing a geogrid cellular base system, and backfilling this grid with a layer of gravel.

Once the ramp was completed, the adjacent high marsh was restored with Spartina patens plantings, herbivore exclusion fencing was erected, the parking lot was re-graded/top-dressed, and any disturbed soils were stabilized with a native seed mix and coir fiber matting.
